Starting in Fall 2018 semester, Utah’s eight public colleges and universities will be required to educate new students about all CDC-recommended vaccines (Category A and B) for adolescents and adults, including meningococcal group B disease. Even though meningococcal group B disease is uncommon, it accounts for approximately 60% of all meningococcal disease cases in persons 16 to 23 years old in the United States. It was responsible for 100% of US college outbreaks of meningococcal disease between 2011 and 2017. Please make sure your patients are given Trumenba before going off to college! It’s best to start while they are still in high school
