Starting in Fall 2018 semester, Utah’s eight public colleges and universities will be required to educate new students about all CDC-recommended vaccines (Category A and B) for adolescents and adults, including meningococcal group B disease. Even though meningococcal group B disease is uncommon, it accounts for approximately 60% of all meningococcal disease cases in persons 16 to 23 years old in the United States.   It was responsible for 100% of US college outbreaks of meningococcal disease between 2011 and 2017.
